If you’re like most people, you might think that when you write a press release and you talk about how awesome your business is and whatever else is going on in your business that this automatically will be published by people covering your industry.

What are media people interested in? Here’s a clue. They’re not interested in promoting your business. Let’s get that out of the way. What they are interested in are newsworthy developments that may impact your business. See the difference? Good.
To figure out how to write the right press release, you need to focus on whether your release is newsworthy. This means you need to pay attention to media trends and try to piggyback on those trends. Try to get your brand mentioned in connection with those trends. That’s how you play the press release game.
